Serialized Story

Every Thursday, the Rocky Mountain News will publish a new chapter of a serialized children's story.

Watch your students' interest in reading grow as they eagerly await each week's installment of our serial story. The writing and illustrating team who brought you the entertaining fall serial “Perseus” returns with “Woman of the World: the Story of Nellie Bly.” Mike Peterson and artist Christopher Baldwin tell the true story of Elizabeth Cochrane, a poor girl from western Pennsylvania who gained worldwide fame as Nellie Bly, the courageous investigative journalist who infiltrated a mental hospital disguised as a patient, went behind the lines in the Pullman strike and even traveled around the world in 72 days. Over the course of 14 weeks, readers will delight in the true exploits and bravery of this intrepid reporter. Each installment includes a newspaper activity and CSAP-style questions. The Spanish version of this story will appear in El Semanario.
